Paolo di Canio, the Swindon Town manager, has said beating Aston Villa in the Capital One Cup would equal “having sex with Madonna”.
Swindon host Villa at the County Ground on Tuesday night and their manager was eager to reminisce about his own famous giant-killing exploits.
Di Canio scored an FA Cup fourth round winner for West Ham United at Manchester United in 2001.
“When I scored against United it was very exciting to look around and see 9,000 people celebrating away from home,” the Italian said.
“Sending Manchester United out was amazing. It was like having sex with Madonna and beating Villa as a manager would be just as good.”
“Better than having sex with Madonna? Let me try it and I will give you an honest answer.”
Whether he was referring to his team scoring or himself was unclear.
