In an interview with Digital Spy he added: "I think people have just seen through the 'X Factor' format these days."
Praising the BBC show which he stars in, he said: "'Strictly' is family entertainment that all generations can watch at the same time. In an age when people only communicate with mobile phones and on the internet, we're a show that brings everyone together. 'Strictly' transcends all audiences."
'Strictly' has been dominating this year's Saturday night ratings battle and has even beaten 'The X Factor' on Sunday nights for the first time in the show's history.
Last week, former 'EastEnders' star Sid Owen was eliminated from the competition in a Halloween special.
This weekend the remaining 11 couples will once again battle it out to stay in the competition. Here's what they will be dancing to:

Denise & James - Viennese Waltz to 'At Last' by Etta James
Fern & Artem - Paso Doble to 'Espana Cani' by Ross Mitchell Orchestra
Kimberley & Pasha - Salsa to 'Naughty Girl' by Beyonce

Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh is currently undergoing physio to get in shape for this weekend's shows, after damaging her knee.
She is thought to be suffering from an injury common to runners - iliotibial band syndrome - and has been having eye-watering treatment for the past few days.
The singer said she had her "fingers crossed" she would be up to full fitness to perform a salsa on this weekend's show with professional partner Pasha Kovalev.
