Helen Mann: Head Teacher Dies At Sytchampton Endowed First School, Worcestershire

Head Teacher Dies At Her Primary School

Police are investigating the unexplained death of a head teacher whose body was found at her primary school.

Helen Mann, who was in her 40s, was pronounced dead yesterday at Sytchampton Endowed First School, near Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire, after police and paramedics were called to the scene at 4.20pm.

In a statement issued by Worcestershire County Council, the school's chairwoman of governors, Stephanie Gait, said: "It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing of our head teacher, Helen Mann.

"We offer our deepest sympathy to Helen's family, friends and colleagues.

"We have taken the decision to close school today and tomorrow and are working with the local authority to provide support to staff and pupils."

West Mercia Police said members of a local safer neighbourhoods team were liaising with the school's authorities following the death.

A police spokesman said: "Officers are investigating the death, which is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious, and they are compiling a report that will be passed to the Worcestershire coroner."
