Six-Storey Shopping Centre Collapses In Ghana

A six-storey shopping centre has collapsed in the capital of Ghana, trapping as many as 200 people, according to BBC News.

It is not known what caused the construction to collapse but witnesses reported hearing "a loud bang" before the top three stories of the Melcom department store in Accra caved in.

Two people were seen being pulled from the rubble, while one person is believed to have been killed, reported Reuters.

President Mahama has suspended his campaigning ahead of December's election and tweeted the following. He is believed to be returning to Accra.
