'World War Z' Trailer: Brad Pitt Put To The Test As Zombies Take Over The World

WATCH: Brad Pitt In Terrifying Zombie Apocalypse

The thrilling and unnerving trailer for Brad Pitt's latest blockbuster 'World War Z' has been released and its music alone is enough to put the fear into you.

Based on Max Brooks' best-selling novel 'World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War', the film tells the story of a zombie apocalypse.

Pitt plays Gerry Lanes, a United Nations worker who is confronted with waves of the undead following a worldwide zombie pandemic. But first, in the trailer, we see him as a devoted family man, trying to get his loved ones out of the city that's being overrun - before it all gets a bit too much, and he's forced to leave them and help what looks like the army battle the outbreak.

Zombies frantically scramble up barricades and walls, like ants trampling over one another, to get to some live flesh. It's the stuff of nightmares.

The film is set in Philadelphia but the city scenes in the trailer were shot in Glasgow and in one blistering action scene zombies can be seen trampling through the Scottish city's George Square.

The supporting cast includes 'The Killing's' Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale and 'Lost' star Matthew Fox. 'Quantum of Solace' director Marc Forster is behind the camera the big-budget adaptation.

'World War Z' opens in cinemas in June 2013.
