X FACTOR RESULTS: District 3 And Union J In Battle Of The Boy Bands For A Place In Next Show, Christopher Maloney Saved To Boos

X FACTOR RESULTS: Did The Right Boy Band Go Home?

It was a battle of the boy bands as District 3 took on Union J for a place in next week's show - with their mentor Louis Walsh stuck in the middle.

District 3 harmonised their way through Bruno Mars' 'Just The Way You Are' (not quite hitting the high notes of previous winner Matt Cardle when he did the same ditty)

And Union J took potentially a more ambitious path with their version of Adele's 'Set Fire to the Rain' - something Gary Barlow had previously said no one should try, apart from James Arthur.

Both Gary and Nicole opted to keep Union J, and with Louis opting not to vote between his two bands, that was enough to keep them in the competition.

Did The Right Boy Band Go Home? Have Your Say Below...

Christopher Maloney, the last contestant to be put safely through, was accompanied by boos as he left the stage - possibly down to the popularity of the boybands, or possibly because of rumours that he's been voting for himself all week.

Nicole once again saw all three of her acts safely through - Jahmene Douglas, James Arthur and, the bane of trained singers everywhere, Rylan Clark - despite Gary's continuing horror at his performance the previous night.

Star performers on the show on Sunday evening were Ed Sheeran and last year's winners Little Mix.
