West Indies' Chris Gayle Hits Opening Six For First Time In Test History

Gayle Becomes First Player Ever To Hit Six Off First Ball In A Test Match

Chris Gayle, the West Indies batsman, has become the first ever cricketer to hit a six off the opening ball in a Test match.

Gayle hit right-handed Bangladeshi debutant Sohag Gazi's delivery over long-on in Dhaka in what was the 2,051st Test in history since cricket's first in 1877.

Gazi did get his revenge however when he claimed the opener for 24.

Showman Gayle, who has confessed he prefers limited overs cricket to the more patient Test equivalent, has now smashed 84 sixes in his Test career to reach joint sixth on the all-time list.
