MUSIC BOX: Rihanna Announces 'Diamonds' Tour, One Direction At Number One

MUSIC BOX: One Direction At Number One

CHART TOPPERS

Pop heartthrobs One Direction did the double as they climbed straight to the summit of the singles and albums charts.

The English-Irish boyband have gone from strength to strength since finishing third in X Factor in 2010 and this week they scored their first ever number one album with Take Me Home.

It meant that golden oldies Rod Stewart and the Rolling Stones had to settle for silver and bronze with Merry Christmas Baby and Grrr.

GIGS TO LOOK OUT FOR

This week Rihanna took off (in a private jet accompanied by 70 journalists) on her 777 promotional tour for new album 'Unapologetic', with the aim of visiting seven cities in seven countries across seven days, posting numerous snaps on Twitter along the way.

Rihanna has announced a new tour

The 'Only Girl In The World' singer has also announced her first 'Diamonds' tour dates in the UK - kicking of at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on 10 June, and concluding at Sunderland's Stadium of Light 10 days later.

More shows are expected to be announced soon, as Rihanna - who seems incapable of making anything less than hit singles - always sells out her tours fast. It's not surprising, really: they're full of chart-topping songs, guest appearances from the likes of Jay-Z, and lots of scantily-clad dancing.

All the UK shows go on sale on Tuesday 20 November and ticket prices range from £35 to £75 - plus booking fees - depending on the city.

OPEN YOUR EARS

It's mid-November and it's freezing outside, but that hasn't stopped indie rock trio Two Door Cinema Club releasing a new single called 'Sun'. The upbeat tune is the second single to be taken from their latest album 'Beacon', following first single 'Sleep Alone', and is great for snapping you out of those winter blues.

The band, who hail from Northern Ireland, have been Stateside for the past month on a headline tour, and are now over in Europe until the end of the year. While in America, they performed tracks on Jimmy Fallon (alongside guests Simon Cowell and Britney Spears), The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien.

The guys are back in the UK for a full tour in January and February 2013 and will play their biggest ever gig at Alexandra Palace on 27 April.
