Couples Comfortable Going Abroad Together After Four Months, Says Sunshine.co.uk Survey

How Far Into A New Romance Would You Go Abroad Together?

Couples are comfortable taking a first overseas trip together around four months into a relationship, according to a survey.

And Turkey tops the list of destinations for those holidaying with their partner for the first time, the poll from travel agent sunshine.co.uk found.

As many as a quarter of the couples questioned said their initial holiday had been "perfect" but 19% rated their trip as "just average", while 32% reckoned they had gone away "too soon".

With Turkey the most popular spot for first-holiday couples, Egypt was the next favourite, followed by Spain, Greece and Portugal.

More than 70% of those surveyed agreed that it was women who were the main organisers of these first-break-together trips.

A total of 1,892 UK adults aged between 18 and 30 took part in the survey.

All were in a relationship and had been abroad with their partner already.

Sunshine.co.uk co-founder Chris Clarkson said: "I think it's encouraging to see so many young people going on holiday together, as it can be good for a relationship to have some time together.

"However, there is also such a thing as it being too soon and there's no point rushing into something you might regret."
