App Store Reaches 1 Million Submitted Apps Since Launch

More than a million apps have been submitted to Apple's iOS App Store, unofficial stats have claimed.

Tthe milestone was reached sometime on Monday, according to app discovery company AppsFire.

Of those million apps, 493,289 were paid and 158,848 were games, according to The Next Web.

There are 736,247 apps currently live on the app store, as many have been deleted, expired or removed since their launch.

The app store first launched in 2008 and since then more than 35 billion apps have been downloaded.

At the recent launch of the iPad Mini, Apple CEO Tim Cook claimed that 90% of its apps were downloaded at least once a month.

Apple recently said that around 300,000 jobs are supported in the United States alone by the "iOS app economy".

More than $6.5 billion has been paid to Apple developers from app sales, and there are 275,000 registered iOS developers in the US.
