She's just played her in the TV movie 'Liz & Dick' but Lindsay Lohan has revealed she never met Elizabeth Taylor because she was 'too nervous' to join the screen legend for dinner.

Li-Lo - who vamped it up on the red carpet at the film's LA premiere last night - says that despite receiving a ring and a handwritten letter from the late actress she will always regret turning down her dinner invite.

The 'Mean Girls' actress told U.S talk show host Jay Leno: "She had actually sent me a ring once and invited me to dinner, but I was genuinely just too nervous..."

The 26-year-old plays the 'Cleopatra' star in the new TV movie, which follows her tumultuous relationship with the actor Richard Burton. And Lindsay reveals the Hollywood star's personal nurse helped give her some extra insight into her life behind closed doors.

"My entertainment lawyer, he knows the nurse that was with her for about seven/eight years," she told Leno. "So I became good friends with her and she was on set most of the days I was working and she actually gave me one of Elizabeth's furs, which was nice of her.

"It was nice to have the inside things that I didn't know, that when she was home in bed she would karaoke sometimes to (the radio). It's the small details."
