Man Admits Assaulting Girl In Random Attack

A man who punched a 16-year-old girl to the ground in an apparently random attack has admitted an assault charge, Scotland Yard said.

Michael Ayoade, 34, appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The girl is left lying on the floor after being punched by the assailant

The girl was walking along near the Black Lion pub in High Street, Plaistow, east London when he jogged up behind her and punched her in the head.

She immediately fell to the ground and was left sprawled across the pavement, suffering broken teeth.

Earlier this week police released CCTV footage of the attack, which happened at about 12.30pm on 13 November.

Ayoade, of Greengate Street, Plaistow, was remanded in custody to appear at Inner London Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
