Felipe Melo Saves Penalty For Galatasaray (VIDEO)

WATCH: Melo Puts On The Gloves And Saves Penalty For Gala

Felipe Melo is about as endearing to opposition supporters as a bout of flu, so imagine how Elazigspor must have felt when the Galatasaray midfielder went in goal to save a stoppage-time penalty and claim a win for the Turkish champions.

Gala goalkeeper Fernando Muslera was sent off in the 89th minute for denying Serdar Gurler a goalscoring opportunity, and with the maximum three substitutes already made by Fatih Terim one of Galatasaray's outfield players had to pull on the gloves and face Goksu Turkodogan's spotkick.

Brazilian Melo swapped roles for the interim after a lengthy wait and heroically dived to his right to repel Turkodogan's weak effort.

Uncharacteristically, Melo showed some restraint in the aftermath of his save when his reaction to winning a corner against Manchester United last week was akin to scoring a winning goal.
