Celebrities, editors and phone-hacking victims arrived at the at the QEII Conference Centre, in central London to hear the final verdict from Lord Justice Leveson on his inquiry into press standards.
Kate McCann, the mother of missing Madeline, the parents of murdered Milly Dowler, former tabloid sting victim Max Mosley and actor Grant all made their way in to the building to hear the announcement and read the report.
Outside the conference centre, masked protesters, dressed as a gagged David Cameron and a sinister-looking Rupert Murdoch, held up signs saying "End the Murdoch Mafia."
Protesters held fake copies of the Leveson Report up to fake flames, to show the disregard they believe that media organisations will have for the inquiry.
