STRICTLY COME DANCING: Kimberley Walsh Scores A Maximum 40 Points For Her Fusion Dance

STRICTLY: 40 Out Of 40 For One Impressive Contestant

Kimberley Walsh topped the 'Strictly Come Dancing' leaderboard for the first time with a perfect score of 40 out of 40 points.

This week the celebrities were faced with combining two dance styles together and performing them to once piece of music in a 'Dance Fusion' challenge.

Pasha and Kovalev and Kimberley Walsh in impressive form on Saturday's show

The Girls Aloud singer and partner Pasha Kovalev dazzled the judges with their effortless tango crossed with cha cha to The Weather Girls' hit 'It's Raining Men'. Walsh strutted her stuff in a red beaded dress and matching heels, as Kovalev looked dapper in a dark waistcoat and red collar and tie.

The studio audience gave the pair a standing ovation as presenter Bruce Forsyth told them: "It's all for you!"

All four judges were united in their top score, winning over even the hard-to-please Craig Revel Horwood, who declared simply: "That is dancing." Bruno Tonioli raved: "You started a nuclear fusion, that was incredible, there was a surprise at every turn. Imaginative, inventive, seamless - the dance of the season so far."

Former prima ballerina Darcey Bussell said: "I loved it, you made it your own. Fabulous."

"I'm going to join the audience, well done," said Len Goodman as he stood to clap the triumphant pair.

Nicky Byrne's climb onto a chair didn't help him and his partner Karen Hauer with the judges

Television star Dani Harmer and her partner Vincent Simone scored an impressive 38 with their blending of the quickstep and Charleston to the Manhattan Rhythm Kings' 'Happy Feet'.

The lowest score of the night went to former Westlife singer Nicky Byrne his partner Karen Hauer, after they failed to impress with their fusion of samba and American fox-trot. Dancing to Olly Murs and Flo Rida's 'Troublemaker', the pair performed an energetic routine that saw Byrne sliding across the floor on his knees.

There are six celebrities left in the competition and two weeks until the finals.
