Newcastle United Christmas Party Cancelled

The Party's Over Before It Has Begun For Newcastle

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has confirmed the players' Christmas party has been cancelled after their poor run of form.

The Magpies are 15th in the Premier League table having won only one game from nine after their 3-1 home defeat to Manchester City at the weekend.

Pardew, who signed a mammoth eight-year contract earlier in the year, has said it would be disrespectful to Newcastle's supporters if the players held a festive bash.

“It’s out of respect to our fans, and what we’ve served this year,” Pardew told the Shields Gazette.

“There’s no party for us, and the same for the staff. That’s how it should be.”

Newcastle's thin squad been left depleted after a flurry of injuries in recent months, with seven first-teamers currently sidelined.

Demba Ba is the Toon Army's top scorer with 11 goals with Papiss Cissé second behind on just four.
