Get the flags out for celebrity parents-to-be David Walliams and Lara Stone. The couple are adamant that when their baby is born they will give it a normal name!

So no Apples, or Peaches, or any other kinds of fruits for them.

But what? If it's a girl, how about Janet? Or Susan? Or Pauline? And if it's a boy, perhaps they'll plump for Derek? Or Alan? Or Colin? (Though you can bet your mortgage it won't be Keith!).

Comedian, David (nice normal name, that) dismissed names chosen by Gwyneth Paltrow and Bob Geldof for their respective children Apple and Peaches as a 'bit of a curse'.

Talking to Alan Carr on his Channel 4 chat show Chatty Man, the 41-year-old said: "It's very hard because you have got a long time to think about it.

"But it's a bit of a curse if you're called Apple or Peaches or something like that.

"I think we're just going to go with a normal name."

The Little Britain star admitted they had decided to wait until the birth to find out the sex of their baby so they could keep an 'air of mystery'.

He said: "I'm really excited about it because I've been writing children's books and you get to that age when a lot of your friends have kids and you start thinking, 'When's it going to happen to me?'

"It's lovely, it's a wonderful thing. We were just thinking about it now we're married and I'm quite old – I'm 41 – so I thought I better get on with it."
