If The Mayan Calendar's Right About End Of The World, One In 10 Brits Want To Go Out Watching 'Coronation Street'

What One In 10 Brits Would Choose As Their Final TV Show

If, according to the Mayan calendar, it's all over come Friday 21 December, what would be your programme of choice on the box for a final bit of light viewing?

According to a poll conducted by catch-up TV service YouView, most people wouldn't be tuning into reality shows such as 'TOWIE' and 'Made in Chelsea', despite their high ratings in normal circumstances.

It seems that as time catches up with us, people would rather reach for an old staple, with one in 10 Brits voting to spend that time on the cobbled streets of Weatherfield with their 'Coronation Street' regulars.

Doctor Who's time-travelling antics came second with 9%, in joint position with the homely comforts of 'Downton Abbey'.

The twists and turns of 'Homeland' are also a draw, it seems, with the US political thriller garnering 8% of the vote, followed by 'EastEnders' with 7%.

However, comedy doesn't feature highly on the TV bucket list, with 'Dad's Army' and 'Gavin and Stacey' the most highly placed at number six.

So what have we learned? Basically, that when time is nigh, we like spending time with new and old favourites, as long as it's not reality TV. What does that tell us?
