The National Rifle Association's call for an armed police guard in every single school has reignited the public debate over gun control in the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings.

Twitter has erupted with both voices of protest and support for Wayne LaPierre after CEO of the America's largest gun lobby gave his first speech a week after 20 young children and six members of staff were shot dead in Newtown, Connecticut.
