Man In Hospital After Shooting In Liverpool Pub

A man is in hospital after a shooting at a Liverpool pub on Friday night, according to local police.

The man, 21, received a thigh injury after a gunman opened fire at the Ploughman's pub in Stockbridge Village on the outskirts of Liverpool, Merseyside Police said.

A number of shots were fired at the pub in Marled Hey, a spokeswoman said, also damaging a window.

She said officers were keeping an open mind about a motive but believed the attack was targeted.

Detective inspector Paul Unsworth said: "This reckless type of behaviour cannot be tolerated. There were a number of people in the pub and we were fortunate no one else was injured."

A man in a white round-necked jumper and a hat, with his face covered, was seen nearby at the time of the incident.

The injured man's condition was described as not life-threatening.

Police were called to the pub at 8.50pm on Friday evening.. They appealed for help from anyone who saw what happened who has not yet come forward to call 0151 7775685.
