It's a new year and that means new music to get excited about. Below is a selection of the best new artists and the videos they've released this week that really command attention.

From a live acoustic set in a chapel, a nature infused swamp wallow and a biological mind tripper, take a listen below and let us know your favourite...

Lewis Watson

Twenty-year-old singer-songwriter Lewis Watson has released a video of his beautiful live performance of 'Once Before' from Exeter Chapel.

The singer from Oxford, who started out by recording cover songs and uploading them to YouTube, now has a headline tour of the UK and Ireland lined-up for March.

He is also supporting Lianna La Havas at Shepherds Bush Empire on 12 March and will support 'Skinny Love' singer Birdy on tour in Australia in April.

Following up from his economically produced debut EP 'It’s Got Four Sad Songs On It BTW', which topped the iTunes singer-songwriter chart on the first day of release, outselling the likes of Adele, Madonna and Ed Sheeran in the process, Lewis has a brand new EP in the pipeline and an album set for release later this year.

Arlissa

Another 20-year-old making waves, after signing to Jay-Z's Roc Nation label and duetting with Naz, is Arlissa.

HuffPost UK previously featured the half-German, half-American singer in our Music Box column in December and now she's set to release her debut solo single, 'Sticks & Stones', on 3 March.

The superb debut is accompanied by a unique and striking video, shot in her native Louisana in Honey Swamp Island (the same marshlands depicted in ‘Beasts of The Southern Wild’).

Sivu

Shot with an MRI scanner, Sivu's debut video is particularly special.

It captures Sivu, who currently works in a call centre in South London, singing his dreamy single 'Better Man Than He' and was filmed live in Barts hospital.

The song was penned in response to a close friend’s depression (“You can end this any time you want to/Just jump out of the window/And feel your body break on the ground”), which makes the brain focused video particularly poignant.

This clever clip was reportedly inspired by research looking into improving operating techniques for children born with a cleft lip and palate - and somehow it works so well as a music video.

Sivu's debut single is released on 25 February.
