Everton have agreed a deal with Dutch club Twente for central midfielder Leroy Fer for £8.5m.
Infamously renowned for their lack of funds, Everton spent £8m on Darron Gibson and Nikica Jelavić last January and also brought in Steven Pienaar on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

The 23-year-old midfielder will now head to Merseyside to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.
Fer has scored three goals this season
Nicknamed De Uitsmijter ("the bouncer") Fer will look to add to his two caps with Holland when he links up with the national squad for next week's friendly against Italy in Amsterdam.
Having begun his career with Feyenoord Fer left the Rotterdam club in 2011 to join Twente, where he has made 29 appearances, scoring 10 goals.
Judging by the Burberry macintosh, Fer has expensive taste, and last year he splashed out £22,000 on a pet horse for his girlfriend. Only because she lived in a block of flats she had no where to keep it.
A 6ft 2in box-to-box midfielder, Fer's qualities could signal the departure of Everton's talisman Marouane Fellaini, who is itching to leave Goodison Park after five seasons on Merseyside.
Fellaini has stated on two previous occasions this season his desire to leave either this transfer window or at the end of the season, however he appears destined to see out the campaign with the Blues.
