Mel C Thrown Overboard Into Crocodile Infested Waters During Comic Relief Rafting Challenge

Zig-a-Zig-AAARRRRGGGHHH!

Mel C escaped the jaws of danger when she had to be pulled from crocodile-infested waters after her dinghy capsized as she rafted her way down Africa's Zambezi River.

The Spice Girl is taking part in the BT Red Nose Challenge: Hell and High Water - a five-day charity challenge for Comic Relief with a batch of other celebrities - but found herself in trouble just hours after it began.

Mel - along with fellow rider, comedian Jack Dee - had to be plucked to safety when they lost control of the raft and the dangerous currents dragged them through trees before the boat capsized.

A series of updates from the charity's official Twitter assured fans the pair were ok following the incident.

Also on the challenge are Chelsee Healy, Greg James, Phillips Idowu, Jack Dee and Dara O'Briain

"Jack and Mel lost control of their dinghy, were dragged through trees by the white water & capsized before being rescued," they wrote.

"Everyone is safe and well, but the last two hours have been incredibly dramatic. Everyone is shaken but physically fine now - but that was as frightening a morning as you'd ever want to have."
