A rather strange take on matters D'. I think Labour have bought into the myth of the EU as perhaps being the best option of implementing their more laudable domestic social/welfare policies, which is why they want in. The opposite appears to be the case from where I stand on this rather singular point at the moment with the way things are developing. The Conservatives/Right seem hell bent on "Thatherising" the whole enterprise, which is why I distrust this whole enterprise.

Whether one is from the Left or Right politically each will have a take on this whole EU project. As I'm from the Left, I find I'm having the rather strange experience of agreeing with UKIP on loosening our ties with the EU, but not for their reasons for doing so. It's a confusing position to be in. Instinctively I would be in favour of a Referendum, but I can well understand Labour's reluctance, given the options on offer.
