Premier League clubs had spent £88m going into transfer deadline day and that figure is likely to pass the £100m mark with QPR's £12.5m signing of Christophe Samba alone.

So poor has the defending been in English football this season, clubs decided to bring in more attacking players, including defensive dunces QPR.
