Hospital Racist Rant Woman Charged For Abusing Nigerian Gina Thompson

Woman Charged Over Hospital Racist Rant Video

A 51-year-old woman has been charged with a string of offences after a video appeared online of someone shouting abuse at two foreigners in a hospital.

The two-minute clip, filmed on a mobile phone at Ipswich Hospital, Suffolk, shows a woman apparently abusing Nigerian Gina Thompson, 23, and her Spanish friend.

The woman is seen asking "where do you come from?" then adding: "You're coming over here and you're pleading poverty."

The incident happened in the hospital's accident and emergency department and includes strong language.

The video appeared on Daily Mail online after a woman was arrested at the hospital on Saturday night and charged on Sunday.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police confirmed Elizabeth Ward-Buck, 51, of Eastward Ho, in Leiston in Suffolk, had been charged with two counts of racially aggravated assault, two of assault and one of assaulting a police officer.

She will appear before Ipswich Magistrates' Court on February 20.
