England Vs Brazil: 5 Past Friendly Clashes (VIDEO)

WATCH: 5 Friendlies Between England And Brazil

England meet Brazil for the 24th time at Wembley on Wednesday, with just four of the meetings coming at World Cups.

Here are five friendlies between the two nations...

Brazil 0-2 England, 1984)

Twenty-year-old John Barnes enlivened the Maracana crowd with a wonderful solo goal. The Watford winger received Mark Hateley's pass 30 yards out on the left wing and weaved through the entire home defence before slotting in a right-footed finish for one of the national team's greatest goals.

Barnes then turned provider for Hateley to head the second through the grasp of goalkeeper Roberto Costa as England won in Brazil for the first and only time.

England 1-1 Brazil, 1992

Since he now presides over the worst imaginable old boys banter on Match of the Day, many may enjoy watching Gary Lineker fail with a Panenka penalty against Brazil 20 years ago.

Usually a missed penalty in a friendly would be regarded as inconsequential, but Lineker had just missed his chance to draw level with Sir Bobby Charlton as England's all-time record goalscorer. Charlton's 49 goals remain unsurpassed.

England 1-3 Brazil, 1995 (Umbro Cup)

A post-season tournament best remembered for Darren Anderton smashing in an equaliser via two posts against Sweden at Elland Road, England's final group match was against Brazil, who boasted an 18-year-old striker from PSV Eindhoven called Ronaldo.

England's central defenders were John Scales and Colin Cooper, and both were predictably run ragged by Il Fenomeno. Graeme Le Saux threatened to steal Ronaldo's thunder with a stunning volley to give England the lead but Juninho, three months before his switch to Middlesbrough, weaved some magic and equalised 10 minutes after the pause. Ronaldo then gave Brazil the lead before Edmundo doubled the advantage as Brazil won the cup.

Brazil 1-0 England, 1997 (Le Tournoi)

Fast-forward two years and it was England who triumphed in a four-team post-season tournament in the fun Le Tournoi. Best associated for Roberto Carlos' physics-defying free-kick, victories against Italy and France confirmed England as winners prior to their final game with Brazil.

Glenn Hoddle's side were unable to register a perfect record in a precursor to the following year's World Cup as Ronaldo, Leonardo and Romario combined for a devastating winner struck by the latter.

England 1-1 Brazil, 2007

Steve McClaren, smarting from a terrible start to his short tenure as England coach, did a U-turn and recalled David Beckham to the squad after his PR move, sorry, transfer to LA Galaxy.

Think the adoration for Beckham was excessive last week? Imagine what it was like when he made his international comeback in England's first international at the new Wembley stadium. Naturally he played a part when he assisted John Terry's opener only for Diego to head in a late leveller.
