'Exploding' Robot Can Jump 30 Times Its Own Height

Scientists have developed a robot which can jump 30 times its own height.

Harvard University's 'Soft' robot concept is a three-legged, silicone-based bot which in this iteration is filled with methane and oxygen. An electric shock delivered to the robot triggers a powerful, controlled explosion which propels it upwards.

It is thought that the concept could be developed to help rescue robots navigate difficult terrain, and could potentially have military implications, since the research was supported by Darpa, the research wing of the American armed forces.

Here are some other amazing and arguably terrifying clips of the soft robot project.
