Martine McCutcheon Bankrupt: Star Thanks Fans For Support

Bankrupt Martine: 'I'm Truly So Touched'

Martine McCutcheon has thanked fans for their support following the news she has declared herself bankrupt.

The former 'EastEnders' star filed for papers at a Kingston-Upon-Thames court, yesterday after owing debts of £187,000.

After fans sent messages of support, she tweeted: "I can't begin to express my love and gratitude for such kind and encouraging messages.

"I'm truly so touched. I love you guys. Thank you. Xx."

Martine rose to fame in the late 90s. On the back of her success in EastEnders, she also scored a No.1 hit with her debut single 'Perfect Moment', starred opposite Hugh Grant in 'Love Actually' and played Eliza Doolittle in the West End stage production of 'My Fair Lady'.

The actress also published a novel, 'The Mistress' in 2009, which was a top ten bestseller.

But the work then began to dry up for the star. She has just filmed an episode of 'Midsomer Murders', but prior to that her last acting role was in 2008 when she played Susan Penwarden in 'Echo Beach'.

More recently she was the face of Activia yoghurt until she was replaced by Gok Wan last year.
