Liam Ferrar To Be Sentenced For Leaving Pig's Head Outside Leicester Muslim Community Centre

Man Sentenced Over Pig's Head At Muslim Centre

A man who left a pig's head on the steps of a Muslim community centre is due to be sentenced today.

Liam Ferrar has admitted dumping the frozen head outside the centre in Leicester on Boxing Day last year in a religiously motivated attack, knowing it would cause distress to the people using the building.

Members of the As-Salaam Trust arrived to open up at 7.30am to be greeted by the animal's grisly remains.

They told police they had been "sickened and disgusted" by what they discovered and had found it "extremely distressing".

Ferrar tearfully admitted to officers he was the culprit following his arrest saying he was drunk after attending a party with friends the previous evening when he had decided to go through with the stunt.

He told police he got the pig's head from a friend's wedding in the summer, and had then kept it frozen until he dumped it.

Ferrar, who is of previous good character, is a member of a group which previously protested outside the centre over the Muslim group's planned use of a nearby Scout hut.

The 24-year-old, from Leicester, will be sentenced for causing harassment, alarm or distress at Leicester Magistrates' Court later today.
