EXCLUSIVE CLIP: Oscar-Nominated Documentary 'The Gatekeepers' Illuminates Hidden World Of Israeli Intelligence

EXCLUSIVE CLIP: Oscar-Nominated 'Gatekeepers' - Homeland For Real

Die-hard fans of 'Homeland' will know that the US thriller was based on an Israeli series, 'Hatufin', which concentrated slightly more on the personal and family consequences for prisoners of war, potential terrorists and balancing their rights with the safety of civilians on their watch.

Now, this Oscar-nominated documentary 'The Gatekeepers' goes one step further, with unprecedented access to the six men who, over the last thirty years, have sat at the top of Shin Bet, the Israeli intelligence agency, charged with protecting their Israeli homeland.

HuffPost UK is pleased to host an exclusive clip - WATCH ABOVE - from this engrossing but disturbing film, which demonstrates the stoic pragmatism of these hardened but reflective men, some of the relevant history behind the entrenched hostility of the region, and remembers Shin Bet's darkest hour in 1995, when they lost their Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin, to an assassin's bullet.

"You can't make peace using military means," says one.

"In the war against terror, forget about morality," says another. "Find morals in terrorists first."

The Gatekeepers is in UK cinemas from 12 April. Watch the trailer below...
