'Coronation Street' bosses have given viewers a glimpse of forthcoming explosive scenes on the ITV soap by releasing teaser images from the upcoming Rovers Return fire.

The iconic boozer is set to burst into flames in a dramatic stunt due to air next week, which sees love rivals Sunita Alahan and landlady Stella Price caught inside the blaze.

The fire storyline airs on Monday 18 March and in the build-up to the incident the street's residents gather in Nick's Bistro for a Full Monty charity strip show. However, just as the boys are about to reveal all, Norris Cole rushes in to alert everyone to the fire.

The fire quickly takes hold and the residents of Britain's most famous street can do nothing but watch on in horror as fire takes hold.

For Shobna Gulati, who plays Sunita, it marks some of her final scenes on the cobbles, as she has already been revealed as one of the fire's victims.

She said: "It’s an amazing send off. It feels great and I feel so pleased. The Rovers itself burning was hard to watch. When you watched the inside burning there was Betty’s picture in flames, along with all those memories.

"Sunita was a barmaid there too so she had an inside out relationship with the pub. I had a stunt lady there to do any scenes I didn’t want to do, but when it came to it I just thought this is the last time viewers are going to see me as Sunita, so you might as well see my face and not the back of the stunt double!

"When I finished filming the fire I cried. I thought how awful it must be to actually be in that kind of disaster. It must be horrific because the heat was horrendous," she said.

"I could feel the burn. You could actually feel your skin burning. I had a bucket of cold water for me to cool down in because I was that hot; hot beyond belief."

By the end of the week's episodes, the pub is a burnt out shell and the finger of blame is pointing firmly at Sunita for starting the fire. But could the arsonist be someone closer to home?
