The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge headed to the races on Friday for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Kate, who is five months pregnant, hid her bump - nicknamed 'grape' - under a blush coloured Joseph coat, accessorised with a dark chocolate brown bow trimmed Betty Boop hat from Lock & Co, brown gloves, brown patterned tights and knee high brown boots.

The couple are expected to cheer on Monbeg Dude - the race horse owned by rugby star Mike Tindall, who is married to William's cousin Zara Phillips.

Tindall's horse is taking on its biggest challenge to date by running in the highlight of the four-day horse racing festival.

Zara previously revealed it was "probable" she called her husband an idiot after he bought the horse, which he knew nothing about, for £12,000 at a charity auction

"He just started bidding but he didn't know what he was bidding for," Zara said.

"He didn't know any of its form or anything but luckily the horse has won."

The Duchess was looking happy as she took in the Gold Cup atmosphere

Monbeg Dude, trained by Michael Scudamore and co-owned by Tindall's fellow rugby players James Simpson-Daniel and Nicky Robinson, already has a number of wins to its name, including the Welsh Grand National.

William, was spotted browsing the race programme, as he and Kate watched the first race of the day.

Tindall's mother-in-law the Princess Royal and husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence were also at the Cheltenham Festival, according to the Court Circular.

Thoughts of many at the Festival were with leading amateur jockey JT McNamara, who remains in hospital in a coma after suffering a serious neck injury when his horse fell.

The Irishman, 37, fell at the first fence while riding Galaxy Rock for trainer Jonjo O'Neill in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup yesterday afternoon.
