Mark Stone, Sky News Beijing Reporter, Detained During Live Broadcast

Reporter Arrested During Live TV Broadcast

A live broadcast by Sky News Asia correspondent Mark Stone was dramatically halted after Chinese authorities detained him.

Stone had been filming with a team in Tiananmen Square when uniformed officials told him to stop.

But instead the cameras kept rolling and, in bizarre scenes, Stone continued reporting as he was transferred in a police van.

According to Sky, Stone had permission to film but was still escorted away.

The incident started earlier in the day when Stone had tweeted this:

Sky News reported a problem with passes not being displayed correctly caused the confrontation.
