Bobs Worth Wins Cheltenham Gold Cup

Bobs Worth has won the 2013 Cheltenham Gold Cup.

The 11-4 favourite made a late surge to overtake Long Run and Sir Des Champs and win by seven lengths.

Delighted rider Barry Geraghty said: "He's a great attitude, he struggled on the ground but he kept fighting. I was hunting and I knew coming into the second last I would win. He's as game as a lion and he loves the job."

Bobs Worth is Nicky Henderson's second Gold Cup win in three years

Trainer Nicky Henderson claimed a Gold Cup first and third with Long Run finishing behind Sir Des Champs, and added: "Everyone has done a hell of a job. Bob's Run hasn't run since the Hennessy and Long Run hasn't run until the King George so it's all down to the team at home. They've all been absolutely brilliant in putting up with me."

It was Henderson's second Gold Cup in three years under Geraghty.

He had previously won the Gold Cup with Long Run and Geraghty was victorious in 2005 on Kicking King.

Silviniaco Conti was a faller at the third-last when still going well in the hands of Ruby Walsh.
