Here it is - the official box art for Grand Theft Auto 5.

Rockstar Games revealed the cover after various tech sites noticed a similar design being painted on the side of a wall in New York City.

The cover follows the pattern set by earlier titles in the series, with various characters and scenes from the game depicted in a cartoon, pulp graphical style.

Some aspects - such as the helicopter in the top corner, with added missiles - deliberately reflect the GTA 4 cover art.

The game will be released on 17 September, four months later than originally planned.

We can't wait to play it - but we have all the best screenshots below if you can't wait until the first gameplay previews hit the web.
