Two-time Olympic swimming champion Rebecca Adlington was among dozens of well-wishers who replied. She tweeted "god that's awful! Hope she's ok! X"

Farah later wrote: "Wife is ok..!! Police called and said they arrested the driver..!! Happy days."

Farah, 30, is currently in Portland training for the London Marathon on April 21. He will complete the first half and is expected to run the whole race next year.
