Dubai Police Add Lamborghini Aventador To Fleet

New Lambo Lands On Dubai Police Doorstep

In a country where fast and expensive cars are more common than on the streets of London's Mayfair, it's probably no surprise that the Dubai Police needs some wheels to keep up with the boy racers.

And in a move that clearly demonstrates how austerity has not hit the Gulf kingdom just yet, the boys in green and white have armed themselves with their very own supercar - a $500,000 Lamborghini Aventador.

The $550,000 Lamborghini is the latest - and fastest - addition to the Dubai Police fleet

With a top speed of 217mph, the car can reach 62mph in just under three seconds but it may not be used for frontline criminal chasing. Instead, it's likely to be seen cruising around tourist areas to show "how classy Dubai is", according to deputy police director General Khamis Matter al-Muzaina.

The Lamborghini is part of a bigger overhaul of Dubai Police cars

Of course, Dubai isn't the first to add a Lamborghini supercar to their collection. The Metropolitan Police got their hands on one back in 2005 as the picture below, taken at the Regent Street Garden Festival in September of that year, shows.

But, don't worry, it was just for demonstrations.
