Pepsi Pull 'Most Racist Advert In History'

Pepsico has been forced to pull an advert after complaints that it was racist and glorified violence against women.

The commercial, made for the US by rapper 'Tyler the creator', showed a group of black men from group Odd Future and a goat in an ID parade. A white woman on crutches with cuts and bruises is then shown into the room and urged to point out who attacked her (the goat).

The visibly distressed woman then screams and hobbles out of the room, saying 'I can't do it', after the goat appears to say "snitches get stitches fool" and "when I get out of here I'm going to do you up".

The commercial is based around wordplay on 'dew', advertising the Mountain dew drink. Pepsico apologised for the ad and pulled it from its site after complaints.

Social commenter Dr Boyce Watkins said the ad was "arguably the most racist commercial in history."

He wrote, "One side of the glass is mostly criminal, 100 % black. The other side of the glass consists of the 'good guys,' nearly all of whom are white. Mountain Dew has set a new low for corporate racism. Their decision to lean on well-known racial stereotypes is beyond disgusting. This doesn't even include the fact that the company has put black men on par with animals."

Pepsico apologised for the ad in a statement and said it took "full responsibility" for any offence caused by the commercial.
