Robin Van Persie Named Barclays Premier League Player Of The Month (PICTURES)

April Blossoms

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has received the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month award for April.

The Holland international scored in the Red Devils' win at Stoke City, hit an equaliser at West Ham United and claimed a hat-trick to seal United's 20th title.

Van Persie's second versus Villa is arguably the goal of his career. Running on to Wayne Rooney's telegraphed pass, he hit a 20-yard volley instantly past Brad Guzan for one of the goals of the season.

The 29-year-old also earned United a point at former club Arsenal last week in what was a prolific return to form after going 10 games without a goal.

It is the fifth time Van Persie has won the award and the second occasion he has done so with United, having claimed the honour for December.

Van Persie is the Premier League top scorer on 25 goals - four ahead of the suspended Luis Suárez - and has registered 29 overall for United since his summer transfer from the Gunners.

Rafael Benítez, despite his interim title, took the Manager of the Month award for Chelsea's recent resurgence in what was his first win since March 2009.
