Liverpool 0-0 Everton: Blues Aggrieved At Disallowed Distin Goal (PICTURES)

The Dismal Derby

Liverpool and Everton registered the second Merseyside derby draw of the season at Anfield, however the visitors were left feeling aggrieved by referee Michael Oliver's decision to disallow a Sylvain Distin goal.

Distin stooped to nod in a Leighton Baines corner just after the hour mark only for Oliver to rule that Victor Anichebe had committed a foul on Pepe Reina, who appeared to lose his balance under minimal contact.

Anichebe was booked for protesting against the decision, in what was the sole flashpoint of a dismal derby.

Steven Gerrard later had a good chance to break the deadlock after Distin was denied by Oliver, however the 34-year-old centre-back cleared Gerrard's goal-bound effort away.

Phil Jagielka also thwarted Gerrard with an excellent block in the opening 45, with the second stalemate between the Reds and the Blues a stultifying contest compared to the stimulating encounter in October.
