Glasgow Red Road Tower Block Blown Up In Controlled Demolition

WATCH: Glasgow Tower Block Razed To The Ground

One of Glasgow's iconic Red Road tower blocks was brought crashing down on Sunday in a controlled demolition.

The 30-storey residential building was reduced to 100,000 tonnes of rubble in just five seconds with 88 kilos of explosives.

It is the second of eight such buildings to be demolished as part of a regeneration project by the Glasgow Housing Association (GHA).

The last will be razed by 2017.

A number of films and books have been inspired by the tower blocks most notably the gripping 'Red Road' which won a BAFTA in 2006.
