Frank Lampard Signs New Chelsea Contract: What's His Best Goal? (PICTURES)

POLL: What's Lampard's Best Chelsea Goal?

Although not as talented an English midfielder as Paul Scholes or Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard's knack for goals in his Chelsea career is a remarkable achievement and the club has belatedly recognised his value by granting him a one-year contract.

One of the most decorated players in Chelsea's history, Lampard has literally won every major trophy with the Blues, bar the Club World Cup. He overtook Bobby Tambling's goalscoring record with a winning brace against Aston Villa last week and collected a Europa League winner's medal on Wednesday.

"I love this club, the staff, the players and especially the supporters, who have treated me fantastically since the day I arrived," Lampard, who signed from West Ham for £11million in 2001," told www.chelseafc.com.

"The thought of helping the club to more success in the forthcoming years is all I ever wanted."

At 34, his matchwinning prowess shows no signs of diminishing and although rarely good in an England shirt, he has been consistently great in a blue one.

In the Europa League final he very nearly snatched the glory from Branislav Ivanović. His 25-yard shot which smashed Artur's crossbar at 1-1 was a reminder of how lethal he continues to be from distance, and he was inches away from adding another outstanding strike to his catalogue of great goals.
