George Michael 'Fell Out Of Car Doing 70mph'

George Michael is 'lucky to be alive' after he fell out of a moving car doing 70mph on the M1 last week.

The singer was airlifted to hospital after paramedics were called to the incident on the M1 junction 6A, near St Albans, in Hertfordshire, at about 17:50 BST on Thursday.

A driver who nearly ran him over has told how he his 'lucky he didn't die' as she and other drivers swerved to avoid hitting him as he lay in the road.

The 'Careless Whisper' star is said to have been trying to close the passenger door of the silver Range Rover which wasn't shut properly when he fell from the vehicle into the fast lane of the M1.

Mini driver Katherine Fox said she used her car to shield the singer as he lay dazed and covered in blood on the tarmac.

“There was a nasty cut on his forehead and the back of his head," she told The Sun.

“There was blood all down his face and on his teeth. He was breathing and conscious but in shock.”

“I saw blood everywhere and a man on the ground.I thought someone had run across the road and been hit.

“I asked what had gone on and was told he tried to open the car door and shut it again because it wasn’t shut properly and apparently fell out at 70mph."

Ambulance spokesman Gary Sanderson told the BBC: "The man who we believe to be in his 40s sustained a head injury and following treatment, stabilisation and immobilisation by land and air ambulance crews, he was flown to hospital for further care."

Hours later his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, speaking at their North London home, said: “I’ve spoken to him and he’s good.”

This isn't George's first car accident. The former Wham! star has been involved in a series of smashes , the most well known of which resulted in an eight-week sentence for crashing his car into a branch of photographic store Snappy Snaps, while under the influence of cannabis.

George isn't the only accident prone star...
