Former Chelsea winger Arjen Robben scored the winner for Bayern Munich in the Champions League final at Wembley after a tense match against their Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern, runners-up in the competition twice in recent years, most notably to Chelsea in their own stadium 12 months ago, exorcised the demons of defeat, lifting the trophy following the late goal from their 29-year-old Dutch midfielder that secured a 2-1 victory.

The German giants have now won the tournament five times, with only Real Madrid (nine) and AC Milan (seven) boasting more victories in the competition.

Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes will now hand over to former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola at the Allianz Arena.
