John Malkovich Saves Bleeding Man's Life

John Malkovich has reportedly helped save the life of an elderly man who slipped and fell outside his hotel.

The RED actor rushed to help 77-year-old tourist Jim Walpole when he fell over in Toronto, Canada, cutting his neck badly on some scaffolding, reported The Toronto Sun. The injury required 10 stitches.

Walpole said: "John Malkovich saved my life."

John is said to have run over after seeing the accident, and started trying to stop the blood flow at the same time as reassuring Walpole, who was visiting Canada with his wife from Ohio in the US.

He went on: "He started to press on my neck. He said he was trying to stop the bleeding."

Other members of the public also came to help, and one said of the actor: "The guy really seemed to know what he was doing. We didn't know who he was. I just asked if I could hold the man's head and he said yes."

When the paramedics arrived and took over, Walpole said he looked up at the 59-year-old actor and asked his name.

"He said, 'My name is John and you are going to be all right'."

The actor is staying in Toronto while he plays Casanova at the Elgin Theatre.
