The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have received a selection of condoms as part of a maternity gift from the government of Finland.

The prophylactics – perhaps a hint to the Royal couple to take a breather before spawning once more - were included along with a snowsuit, a picture book, romper suits, nappy cream, bedding and bra pads.

The gifts come in a box, which doubles up as a crib and is a starter kit which has been given to expectant mothers in the country for the last 75 years.

A spokesman for Kensington Palace told The Mirror: “We were delighted to receive the very kind gift of the maternity package from the Finnish government.

“It was a very thoughtful gesture and we’re very grateful for it. I’m sure the Duke and Duchess will be very interested to see the contents.”

The “baby box” tradition is designed to give all children in Finland, no matter what their background, an equal start in life, the BBC reports.
