Sonia Rykiel Does Sophistication, With A Twist, For Autumn/Winter 2012

IN A NUTSHELL: The was an air of sophistication about this season's Rykiel Autumn/Winter collection. The show opened with staple pieces - cropped tailored trousers, pencil skirts and white shirts worn underneath knitted jumpers - in a simple colour palette of black, white and beige. However, the show notes promised an "offbeat twist", which was found in chunky, knitwear suits, cocoon coats in a sherbet orange shade and rouched, silk dresses that were sheer enough to reveal just a bit of leg and chest.

BEG, BORROW OR STEAL: Fitted, knitted pencil skirts were worn low on the hips for a relaxed vibe, but we'd quite like to wrap up in one of the super snug, shearling coats next season.

F-ROW: Leigh Lezark, Joan Burstein and the lady herself, Sonia Rykiel.

VERDICT: When the models came together for their final walk, the theme of this season's collection became even more apparent. This Sonia Rykiel girl might be a little aloof, but she's always cool and composed. With her fresh but chic Autumn/Winter style, she's probably one of the best dressed ladies on the Left Bank.
