Xbox One Will Be 'Always Recording' Your Last Five Minutes Of Gameplay

Microsoft has revealed that the upcoming Xbox One will keep a rolling video record of your last five minutes play, so you can easily share clips with friends.

The feature - called 'Project Upload' - was revealed by Ken Lobb, creative director at Microsoft Game Studios.

The idea is to act like a digital video recorder - allowing you to save and share your best moments, either during gaming or later when your session has finished.

"You're always recording. We have a ring buffer game DVR basically, so the last five minutes of any game you're playing is always being stored locally on your hard drive.

"Let me give you two scenarios. Scenario one: I'm playing online and I just did the best thing ever. I can't pause [as] I'm playing online. You can say 'Xbox, record that', it'll grab the last 30 seconds and save it for you to play with later."

He went on to explain that users will even be able to edit the videos on the console, adding voiceovers and picture-in-picture from the Kinect camera.

Xbox Live Gold members will be able to broadcast their games live over Twitch, while similar features to both of the above will be available at launch for the PS4. So let's hope you like watching games videos - there's going to be a whole lot more of 'em.
