David Moyes has been handed £100 million by the Glazer family as a welcome gift. And might it compel him to finally reinforce the Manchester United squad?

United are apparently intent on breaking the bank to sign Gareth Bale, while yesterday they bid over £30m for Cesc Fàbregas. The Times' James Ducker brings the good news for Reds.

Bad news, depending on how United supporters feel about Wayne Rooney, comes courtesy of the Star, who report the Scouser was teeing off at a golf club close to Chelsea's Cobham training ground.

Rooney, of course, was the subject of a £20m Blues bid last week and wants to leave United.

How's the hamstring?

The Premier League champions can forget about Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford though, according to José Mourinho. The Portuguese says his compatriot will remain at Real Madrid for the 2013-14 campaign.

El Confidencial (not off the record and on the QT) say Real Madrid are ready to smash the world record for a transfer fee by offering Tottenham £85m for Bale.

Spurs, linked with Roberto Soldado, could make a move for Lyon striker Lisandro López, having supposedly failed to sign the Argentine in January, write the Mirror.

Remaining in north London, and Arsenal will hit the £40m mark in their efforts to bring Luis Suárez to the Emirates Stadium, say the Mirror.

All this wantaway activity is thirsty work

The Gunners are on the cusp of signing Brazil international playmaker Bernard for £21m from Atletico Mineiro, add the Standard.

And are Liverpool taking our advice? Aly Cissokho could join the club on loan from Valencia to offer an alternative at left-back to José Enrique.
